Tribute & Message From The Family

Darick D. Wooldridge, age 49, of Dubuque, and formerly of Mason City, was called home suddenly on Wednesday, November 8, 2017, as the result of an automobile accident. To celebrate Darick's life, family and friends may visit from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., on Tuesday, November 14, 2017, at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery.

Darick was born on July 31, 1968, in Dubuque, Iowa, son of Marvin J. Wooldridge and Sandra Lee (Sires) Pickel.

After growing up, and gaining his primary education in Dubuque, Darick moved north to Mason City to achieve his Bachelors Degree in Mathematics from Buena Vista University. He would invest many years of his working career with the Lehigh Cement Company in Mason City, where he earnestly put his time and talents to good use through each and every day. When Darick wasn't spending his hours at work, he could easily be found cheering on his Chicago Bears and Cubbies, attending the most current UFC fight, or even regularly traveling the country to find new scenery to add to his memory bank. Colorado was definitely Darick's favorite place to visit, but his latest cruise this year surely made quite an impression and easily found it's way into a close second. But at the end of the day, what truly drove Darick was the time he was able to spend with his family. His kiddos were his life, his family always came first, and if you were fortunate enough to be loved by Darick, you never had to wonder if he had your back. We are absolutely devastated today with the sudden and tragic loss of our dear dad, grandpa, brother and friend; but we thankfully find subtle moments of peace in our hearts in knowing that Darick will finally be able to spend Thanksgiving with his parents, and son, Dean, again this year. Thank you Darick for all the love you shared along your earthly journey, for the experiences we shared together which have now become cherished memories, and for always trying to live life to it's fullest even if the road became a little bumpy from time to time. We miss you, we love you and we wait patiently to see you again one day.

Those left to cherish Darick's memory include

his daughters,
Lydia (Liz) Walsh
and Lacey Walsh, both of Dubuque, IA;

his granddaughter,
Caydence Zumhof-Wooldridge, Dubuque, IA;

his siblings,
Dan Wooldridge, Dubuque, IA
and Dawn Brainard, Harrison, AR;

and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Darick was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Dean L. Wooldridge.

A Darick D. Wooldridge memorial fund has been established, which will be distributed among his favorite charities.

Condolence & Memory Journal

Darick was my very best male friend. We shared a lot of memories from when we were younger and I will cherish those memories forever. Darick was an awesome man and he never talked about others in a negative way. He truly enjoyed his family and when he talked about his kids his eyes would light up. Darick was one of a kind and always had the biggest heart of anyone I knew. He tried to overcome some difficult things that happened in his past. Darick and I have cried many times together with some of the conversations of his son's death. He wanted to be closer to his daughters when he moved back to Dubuque. He was a genuine man and I was lucky to have known him. I would also just like to say how very proud he was of his daughters. Rest in Peace my dear friend.
